The municipality of San Martín Texmelucan is located in the west-central part of the state of Puebla, 32 km far away from the capital of the state, and about 95 km from Mexico City.
At about 4.5 km from San Martín Texmelucan, on the federal highway Puebla-Mexico City direction towards Mexico City, there is an intersection that leads to Exhacienda de San Antonio Chautla.
The Exhacienda de San Antonio Chautla is an interesting tourist site, with natural and architectural attractions. Its beginnings date from the 18th century and it was a ranch with agricultural technology advanced for its time and one of the most beautiful farms in the region.
In the interior, the Exhacienda houses a museum nowadays, where numerous memorabilia and artwork can be contemplated. An example is this fragment of a painting with Hernán Cortes and La Malinche, the Indian who was his mistress and interpreter for the conquest of Mexico:
On the outside, there are numerous gardens and there is a dam that forms an artificial lake in the middle of which a red brick castle with four towers of English style stands:
